SL 70400 IDC Receptacle, 7 Circuits, 0.100" Pitch
The 24 AWG wire gauge is the most common size for ribbon cable IDC applications; the connector is designed for that specific wire diameter, so using a different gauge will not terminate reliably. The IDC termination method cuts through the insulation and makes contact with the conductor in one press operation — no stripping, no crimping — which speeds up harness assembly and reduces labor cost per circuit. For applications requiring hundreds of mating cycles or exposure to corrosive atmospheres, a gold-plated variant in the SL series would be the better fit.
Mating and Compatibility
This receptacle mates with the Molex SL 70066 series pin headers (male, 0.100" pitch, single row) and the SL 70543 series shrouded headers. The connector accepts 24 AWG wire only; the IDC slot geometry is sized for that specific conductor diameter.
