The housing is natural polyamide 6/6 (PA66), rated for the UL94 V-2 flammability class typical of this series. Each cavity accepts a separate crimp terminal — the KK396 series uses Molex 2478 or 2578-series pins for the receptacle side, typically 18-24 AWG wire. A common sourcing error is to stock the housing and assume the contacts come with it — they do not.
Pitch, rows, and board fit
The 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch is wider than the 0.100" pitch used on many signal connectors, which means the board footprint for the mating header is more spacious — useful for routing thicker traces between pads. For a harness builder, the 18-position count matches applications needing 18 discrete circuits in a single pass-through, such as power distribution or multi-wire sensor arrays.
