Tin is a good choice for applications with fewer than 50 mating cycles—think a one-time assembly or occasional field disconnect. For high-cycle or corrosive environments, gold-plated siblings in the KK396 family would be a better fit. The square male pins measure 0.450" (11.43mm) on the mating side and 0.156" (3.96mm) on the solder post—long enough to clear typical PCB thicknesses and mate with standard KK396 crimp housings.
