Termination Options: Press-Fit and Solder
The 0438790027: The header accepts both press-fit and solder termination. Press-fit allows solderless assembly into plated through-holes, which is useful for backplane or high-reliability boards where rework is a concern. The solder option gives a traditional through-hole joint for applications where wave or hand soldering is preferred. The post length is 0.246" (6.25mm), which fits standard PCB thicknesses in the 1.6mm to 2.4mm range.
Mating Half and Application Fit
This header mates with standard Mini-Fit Jr. receptacle housings that accept 4.20mm pitch crimp terminals. The 14-position, dual-row layout is common for power distribution in industrial control panels, medical equipment, and telecom gear where the 4.20mm pitch provides a good balance between board density and current capacity. The black housing color is standard for the series.
