The Molex 0475710001 is a Series 47571 microSD™ card connector — the 9-position (8 + 1) member with an integrated card detect switch. It accepts Secure Digital microSD cards in a push-in, pull-out insertion cycle, meaning the card latches when fully seated and releases with a second push. The reverse-mount, right-angle SMT orientation places the card slot on the bottom side of the PCB while the connector body sits on top, a layout choice that keeps the card flush with the board edge in space-constrained handheld or embedded designs.
The 2.30mm height above board is the dimension that drives enclosure clearance — at that profile, the connector fits under a 3mm-thick cover or display assembly without interference. The reverse-mount feature means the card inserts from the PCB underside, so the board edge cutout or bezel must accommodate the card body protruding below. For pick-and-place assembly, the Tape & Reel packaging (Cut Tape also available) feeds standard SMT lines; the right-angle orientation requires no secondary hand-soldering step.
Card Detect Switch — What the 9th Contact Does
The 9th position (the +1 in 8+1) is a normally-open card detect switch. When the microSD card is fully inserted, the switch closes, signalling to the host controller that media is present. This eliminates the need for a separate mechanical sensor or GPIO polling routine — the switch contact is wired directly to a detect pin on the SoC or card reader IC. The switch is rated for the same insertion life as the data contacts, so it won't wear out before the connector itself.
