IDC Termination — What 28 AWG Means for the Build

The IDC slot dimensions and insulation displacement blades are tuned to that wire gauge — forcing a heavier gauge risks incomplete pierce and intermittent contact; a lighter gauge leaves the conductor loose in the slot.
