The latch lock fastening provides positive retention against vibration without requiring screw threads, making it suitable for mobile or machinery harnesses where the connector pair must stay mated under shock and vibration. The housing accepts the terminal and the latch lock secures the pair to the mating male header.
For a wire-to-wire harness, both halves use the same crimp terminal family; for a board-mounted application, the header is soldered to the PCB and the receptacle terminates the cable assembly.
