D-Sub Combo Plug Housing, 3W3 Layout
The Molex 1727040031 is a D-Sub, combo plug housing from the FM, FCT 172704 series, accepting coax or power contacts. It carries 3 positions in a single row, arranged in the standard DA-3W3 shell layout — the same shell footprint as a standard DA-15 but with three large coax/power cavities instead of signal pin holes. The housing is free-hanging (in-line) with an unthreaded flange, and comes in a green polyester/glass-filled dielectric. Shell material is steel with tin plating, and grounding indents on the shell provide shield continuity when mated.
For a complete assembly you need the matching coax or power crimp contacts from the FM, FCT series, plus the appropriate insertion/extraction tooling. The 3W3 layout uses three large cavities; standard signal D-Sub pins do not fit. Confirm the contact part number against your wire gauge and signal type before ordering the housing alone.
The glass-filled polyester housing and tin-plated steel shell hold up in those environments, though the shell is not stainless so avoid corrosive washdown exposure without a protective coating.
Mates with a D-Sub combo receptacle housing in the same 3W3 shell layout — the standard 3W3 female counterpart. The unthreaded flange means the mating pair relies on the mating connector's hardware (screwlocks or slide locks) for retention; no integral jackposts on this side. Termination is via separately ordered crimp contacts, inserted into the housing cavities.
