Right-Angle D-Sub Plug for Board-Edge Signal Interconnects
It belongs to the F, FCT 173109 series and uses a standard DA-15 shell layout (size 2, DA, A). This is a practical EMI control measure in cable assemblies where the shield is terminated at the backshell. That temperature envelope makes this plug usable in industrial cabinets, automotive under-hood zones, and outdoor telecom gear where the ambient swings beyond standard commercial limits.
Board Mounting and Mechanical Retention
The right-angle through-hole termination requires the PCB to have a row of plated through-holes matching the 0.318-inch (8.08 mm) row spacing standard for DA-15 D-Sub connectors. The flange includes board-side 4-40 threaded inserts for screw-lock retention, which is the standard method for securing the connector against the insertion and extraction forces of the mating cable plug. A separate backshell or hood is required to complete the cable assembly. The grounding indents on the shell are designed to interface with the shield of a metal backshell, so the hood selection should include a matching shield connection to maintain the EMI integrity of the mated pair.
