Backshell for Standard D-Sub Shell Size A
The Molex 1731110004 is a one-piece backshell from the F-PHG, FCT 173111 series, designed for D-sub connectors with shell size A. It accommodates both standard 15-position and high-density 26-position D-subs that share the same shell size, making it a single backshell option for two common pin counts.
What Ships in the Box
Assembly hardware and a strain relief are included with the backshell, so you do not need to order jack screws, a cable clamp, or the strain relief boot separately. The strain relief grips the round cable jacket to transfer pull loads away from the D-sub solder buckets or crimp contacts.
Material and Build
Molded from gray polyamide (PA) nylon, the backshell provides the mechanical strength and chemical resistance typical of nylon housings used in industrial and commercial D-sub cable assemblies. It is unshielded, so it does not provide a conductive path for EMI — use a metal-shell D-sub and a shielded cable if the application requires EMC containment.
