USB-C Receptacle for High-Speed Data and Power
The Molex 2047110001 is a USB Type-C receptacle from the 204711 series, carrying 24 contacts in a vertical-mount, shielded package. It supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) signalling, with the full complement of pins for SuperSpeed data, sideband use, and power delivery.
Current and Voltage — Per-Pin Duty Matters
The current rating splits across three tiers: 0.25 A for the sideband and configuration pins, 1.25 A for the USB 2.0 data lines, and 5 A for the VBUS and GND power contacts. That 5 A path is what carries the USB-C power delivery up to 15 W at 5 V, or more at higher voltages within the 30 VAC/DC rating. The 30 VAC/DC voltage limit covers standard USB power delivery profiles — the connector itself is not the bottleneck for a 20 V PD source.
Mounting and Assembly — SMT with Board Lock
This is a surface-mount part with through-hole board locks for mechanical retention. The board lock anchors the connector against the shear force from cable insertion and extraction, and the pick-and-place cap means it feeds through an SMT line without special handling. The vertical orientation puts the cable entry perpendicular to the PCB — a common layout for edge-mounted or panel-mounted USB ports. The steel and stainless shield provides EMI containment for the high-speed data lanes.
Rated for -30°C to 85°C operation, the 2047110001 covers indoor commercial equipment and automotive cabin environments where the connector lives behind a panel. ROHS3 compliance is current.
