SlimStack 502426 — 26-Position, 0.40 mm Pitch Mezzanine Receptacle
The Molex 5024262630 is a 26-position receptacle from the SlimStack 502426 series, designed for board-to-board mezzanine stacking. It uses a 0.016" (0.40mm) pitch across two rows of center strip contacts, with a mated stack height of 0.039" (1.00mm).
Board Layout Fit — Pitch, Stack Height, and Footprint
The 0.40 mm pitch is tight — trace routing between pads requires a fine-line PCB capability. The 1.00 mm mated stack height is the z-axis budget from the top of the bottom board to the bottom of the top board. The 26 positions in two rows give 13 contacts per row, so the footprint is roughly 5.2 mm long (13 × 0.40 mm) plus the keep-out at each end. The solder retention features are small board locks that anchor the part during reflow; they also add some shear resistance if the mated assembly sees vibration.
Contact Design and Duty
Center strip contacts mean the mating interface is a row of flat beams, not individual pins — this keeps the mated height consistent and gives a controlled wipe length. This is a signal interconnect, not a power connector — the current per contact is limited by the fine pitch and the contact cross-section. The gold finish prevents fretting corrosion in low-energy circuits.
Mating Half and Assembly
This receptacle mates with the corresponding SlimStack 502426 plug (same series, same pitch, same stack height). The two halves are keyed by the housing geometry — there is no separate keying pin. The SMT tails are on a 0.40 mm pitch, so the solder paste stencil aperture and reflow profile must match the fine-pitch requirement. The solder retention features hold the part during soldering; no additional adhesive is needed for typical reflow.
