0.20mm pitch, 39 circuits — footprint fit first
The 5040703991: This is the tightest-pitch FPC connector in the Molex Easy-On 504070 series: 0.008" (0.20mm) pitch with 39 positions. That 0.20mm centerline drives the board footprint — the pad width and spacing must match the connector's contact layout exactly. The 39 circuits are the full count; no spare positions. Rated at 0.2A per contact and 50V, this is a signal-only interconnect. Gold plating at 3.94µin (0.10µm) on the contact surface gives enough corrosion resistance for moderate mating cycles — the spec lists 10 cycles.
ZIF flip-lock — no insertion force, positive cable retention
The Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) mechanism with a flip-lock backlock means the FPC slides in freely with the actuator open, then the gray polyamide actuator locks it down. No scraping of the pads during insertion, and the backlock holds the cable against vibration or accidental pull. The cable end must be tapered per the spec. Housing is black LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) rated UL94 V-0, so it passes the flame-rating requirement inside any enclosure. The right-angle SMT orientation keeps the connector low — 0.037" (0.95mm) above the board — which matters when the mating FPC has to fold into a tight z-height budget.
