0.40 mm Pitch, 0.8 mm Stack — Board-to-Board Mezzanine Plug
The 0.016" (0.40mm) pitch and 0.8mm mated stacking height place it in the ultra-fine-pitch, low-profile segment of the SlimStack family — the tightest pitch in the series, which means the board footprint needs careful trace routing and via keep-out zones. The 8 positions are split 4 + 4 Power, a hybrid arrangement that carries both signal and power through the same connector body, saving board real estate compared to separate connectors. The plug uses outer shroud contacts with gold finish, surface-mounted with pick-and-place and solder retention features for automated assembly. The 0.025" (0.63mm) height above board keeps the profile low enough for tight enclosures where clearance above the PCB is limited.
Stack Height and Footprint — What the 0.8 mm Means for Board Layout
At this height, the connector is suited for mezzanine applications where the board-to-board clearance is under 1 mm — common in compact handheld devices, camera modules, and sensor boards where every tenth of a millimetre of z-height matters. The 0.40mm pitch drives the pad layout: expect 0.20 mm pad width and 0.20 mm spacing on the footprint, which requires a standard PCB fabrication capability but leaves no room for via-in-pad without microvia technology.
