The one thing that trips people up on this housing
The Molex 5054320801 is an 8-circuit, 2-row receptacle housing from the Micro-Lock PLUS 505432 series. It's the wire-side half of a wire-to-board interconnect — a free-hanging (in-line) shell that accepts female socket crimp terminals and mates with a board-mounted pin header. The 1.25 mm pitch keeps the assembly compact, and the latch holder gives a positive lock that won't shake loose in a vehicle cab or an industrial panel. What catches people: contacts are not included. You order the housing and the crimp terminals separately — the housing alone is just the PBT shell. At 1.25 mm, the pitch is tight enough for dense harnesses but still workable with 28-30 AWG wire on the assembly bench.
Wiring it up — what to order alongside it
This housing takes female socket crimp terminals (not included — order separately). The crimp termination means you strip, crimp, and insert — no soldering, no special tooling beyond a hand crimper for the terminal family. It's a free-hanging, in-line connector, so there's no PCB footprint to worry about; the board side is handled by the mating Micro-Lock PLUS header. The latch holder locks audibly when fully seated, which is your field check that the terminals are home. Black PBT insulation handles -40°C to 105°C, so it's at home in an engine bay or a rooftop control cabinet.
Active production — no LTB watch needed
It's a current-production part in the Micro-Lock PLUS 505432 series, sourced to order against your BOM quantity through independent distribution.
