Mini AB Means It Accepts Both Plug Types
The 'AB' designation in the USB mini AB connector means this receptacle is keyed to accept both a USB mini A plug and a USB mini B plug. That is the whole point of the OTG spec — a single port on a device can act as either host (A) or peripheral (B), and the receptacle has to let either plug in. Standard mini USB receptacles are either A or B; this one is both. The 5-pin layout follows the standard mini USB pinout: VBUS, D-, D+, ID, and GND. The ID pin is what the device reads to decide which role to take — grounded for host, floating for peripheral.
