What the Pinout and USB Standard Mean for Your Design
The 5-contact layout is standard for USB Mini AB — pin 1 is VBUS, pin 2 is D−, pin 3 is D+, pin 4 is ID (the OTG identification pin), and pin 5 is GND. The ID pin is what makes OTG work: when shorted to GND, the device acts as a host; when floating, it acts as a peripheral. This connector is rated for USB 2.0 signalling (480 Mbps) only — it does not support USB 3.0, which requires additional contacts and a different connector form factor.
