20-Position IDC Receptacle for 0.050" Ribbon Cable
The TE Connectivity 1-111196-8 is a 20-position receptacle from the AMPMODU System 50 series, designed for mass-termination to 0.050" pitch ribbon cable via IDC (insulation displacement) contacts. It accepts 30-32 AWG ribbon cable — the standard wire gauge range for miniature signal ribbon — and terminates without stripping or crimping, making it a production-efficient choice for internal board-to-peripheral harnesses in computers, printers, and test equipment.
The IDC termination style means the receptacle is loaded onto the ribbon cable using a manual or pneumatic press — the slot blades pierce the insulation and make contact with the conductor in one operation. No individual wire stripping or crimping is needed, which speeds harness assembly but makes field repair impractical; a damaged wire means replacing the entire connector. The 30-32 AWG wire gauge range covers the most common ribbon cable gauges for 0.050" pitch signal applications. 30 AWG is the typical choice for longer cable runs where resistance matters; 32 AWG is common for very dense, short internal jumpers. The feed-through feature allows the cable to pass through the connector body, simplifying daisy-chain routing in multi-drop configurations.
This receptacle mates with AMPMODU System 50 headers of the same 0.050" pitch and 20-position, dual-row layout.
