Termination and Field Assembly
The 1-1478400-0: The center contact is soldered; the shield is clamped. That clamp termination on the braid is what makes this a field-serviceable connector — no special crimp tool required, just a soldering iron and a hex wrench for the clamp nut. Silver plating on the center contact and body is standard for RF connectors in this class — it carries good conductivity but tarnishes over time in humid environments, so if the connector lives outdoors, keep the mating surfaces clean.
