Plating and duty
Gold finish at 40.0µin (1.02µm) is well above the flash-gold tier common on signal-only contacts. This thickness supports frequent unmating and remating in test equipment, power distribution panels, or any interconnect that sees periodic service. The gold layer covers the mating surface; the crimp barrel is typically tin-plated for a reliable gas-tight connection to the wire.
