MMCX Plug for Thin Coax — 50 Ohm, 6 GHz, RG-174 Family
It terminates RG-174, RG-188A, and RG-316 cables — the common thin flexible coax used in short-run RF interconnects, antenna feeds, and test leads. The snap-on fastening gives quick connect-disconnect for panel or in-line use, and the right-angle body keeps the cable run low-profile against the mounting surface. The 50 Ohm impedance matches standard RF system impedance, so signal reflections stay low across the 6 GHz band. The gold-plated brass body and gold centre contact resist corrosion and maintain consistent contact resistance over the rated 500 mating cycles.
Cable Termination and Build
Shield termination is crimp; the centre contact is soldered. The kit includes the connector body, an end cap, and a ferrule — three pieces that assemble onto the prepared cable end. The dielectric is PTFE, giving stable electrical performance across the -55°C to 155°C operating range. Cable groups RG-174 and RG-316 are 50 Ohm thin coax with similar diameters — the ferrule and centre contact dimensions are matched to these jackets. Using a different cable gauge will not crimp or solder correctly.
