The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 1-1658622-0 is a 50-position, 2-row IDC receptacle designed for mass-termination to 26-28 AWG ribbon cable. The forked contact design pierces the ribbon cable insulation in one press operation, making it a production-friendly choice for parallel signal distribution inside enclosures.
Contact Finish and Mating Reliability
The forked contact geometry also provides a gas-tight interface at the cable termination point, which helps prevent oxide creep at the conductor junction.
Keying and Cable Routing Features
The housing includes a polarizing key and a feed-through feature. The key prevents inserting the receptacle into a mismatched header — useful when multiple AMP-Latch connectors share a backplane or cable harness. The feed-through allows the ribbon cable to pass straight through the connector body, so you can daisy-chain the same cable to a second receptacle without terminating a separate stub. The black housing is the standard colour for this position count in the series.
This is an IDC (insulation displacement) termination — no stripping, no crimping. The receptacle accepts 26-28 AWG ribbon cable and terminates all 50 conductors simultaneously when pressed into the cable.
