The TE Connectivity AMP-Latch 1-1658622-2 is a 64-position IDC receptacle designed for mass-termination to 26-28 AWG ribbon cable. The black housing includes a feed-through slot and a polarizing key, so the cable can pass through the connector body for panel routing, and the key prevents a reversed mate on the header. The free-hanging (in-line) mount means it lands as a cable-end connector, not a board-mounted part.
IDC termination is a one-step press operation — the ribbon cable sits across the fork contacts and the cover is pressed down, slicing through the insulation and gripping each conductor. For 26-28 AWG ribbon, the slot geometry is sized to capture the conductor without damaging the strands.
Mating and Polarization
This receptacle mates with the standard AMP-Latch 64-position shrouded header (0.100" pitch, dual-row). The polarizing key in the housing aligns with the header's key slot, so the connector only goes on one way — no reversed cable connection. The feed-through feature lets the ribbon cable exit through the back of the housing, which is useful when the cable needs to route through a panel cutout before terminating.
