Product details

The TE 1-1734580-1 is a shielded, right-angle modular jack from the A-RJ45 series, wired 10p10c — that is 10 contact positions with 10 conductors, commonly called an RJ50 pinout. This jack is specified for industrial Ethernet, PoE, and data-communication ports where a 10-wire interface is needed — think IP cameras, factory-floor switches, or test equipment that uses the full RJ50 pinout rather than the more common 8p8c RJ45.

Pinout and Mating — Not a Standard RJ45

The 10p10c configuration means this jack accepts a 10-position modular plug with 10 conductors — the same form factor as an 8p8c RJ45 plug but with two extra positions. A standard 8-wire RJ45 plug will insert and latch, but it will not make contact on the two outer positions. If your cable assembly uses a 10p10c plug, this jack mates directly; if you are wiring a 10-wire sensor or a proprietary data link, confirm the plug matches the RJ50 layout. The tab direction is down, so the latching face of the plug faces the PCB when mated.

The shielded shell provides a low-impedance path to ground through the PCB ground plane — essential for passing radiated emissions testing in industrial or telecom enclosures. The board lock consists of two metal tabs that solder into plated through-holes, holding the connector square during wave or hand soldering and resisting the lever force from a cable tug. Without the board lock, a right-angle jack can lift off the board under repeated plug insertion; with it, the mechanical retention is substantially better than a plain through-hole part.
