The TE Connectivity 1-174357-2 is a 3-position plug housing from the EconoSeal J Mark II 070 series, designed for free-hanging (in-line) wire-to-wire or wire-to-device connections where a sealed, vibration-resistant interconnect is needed. The 4.80 mm pitch gives enough spacing for the larger wire gauges typical of power and sensor circuits in automotive and industrial harnesses. The latch lock fastening type provides an audible positive retention — you feel it click home, and it stays put under engine vibration or machine cycling.
The One Thing That Trips Up Every Buyer
Contacts are not included with this housing. The 1-174357-2 is the shell and latch only — you must order the female socket crimp terminals separately. The contact termination is crimp, so you will also need the correct crimp tool and the mating terminal part number for your wire gauge. If you are filling a BOM line, make sure the terminal line item is on the same order or the harness build stops at the crimp station.
Mating Half and Compatibility
This plug housing mates with the corresponding EconoSeal J Mark II 070 header or receptacle that carries the male tab contacts. The latch lock on the plug engages with the matching ramp on the header side. The 4.80 mm pitch and single-row 3-position layout are fixed — confirm the mating half has the same position count and pitch before committing the design. The black PBT insulation material is standard for the series and matches the color-coding convention used in many harness assemblies.
