Sealed Construction with CPA and TPA
The housing is sealed, which means the interface between the receptacle and its mating plug includes a grommet or interfacial seal to keep water and dust out of the contact cavity. The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) feature is a secondary lock that prevents the connector halves from backing off under vibration — common in engine-bay and transmission harnesses. Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) is a retainer that slides into the housing after the terminals are inserted, locking each contact in its cavity so a pulled wire cannot back the terminal out.
