6-Position Plug Housing for Panel-Mount Harnesses
The TE Connectivity 1-2040404-2 is a 6-position, dual-row plug housing from the Dynamic D-1500 series, on a 3.50mm pitch with a 3.30mm row spacing. It is a panel-mount, snap-in style housing — not a free-hanging plug — designed to lock into a panel cutout for a secure, vibration-resistant mount.
The snap-in panel mount means this housing has integral latches that engage a rectangular cutout in a sheet-metal or plastic panel. Once snapped in, the housing stays put while the mating receptacle is plugged and unplugged — no need to hold the housing during mating, and the panel absorbs the insertion and withdrawal forces. This is a different animal from a free-hanging inline plug, which relies on the cable strain relief to stay in place. If your harness layout calls for a connector that bolts to a chassis or enclosure wall, this is the right form factor.
Make sure to order the correct gauge terminals for your wire size; the housing itself does not restrict wire gauge, but the terminal does.
Material and Temperature Rating
The housing is molded from a thermoplastic polyester, glass-filled material — that gives it good dimensional stability and creep resistance at elevated temperatures.
