Board-fit reality for a 0.40mm-pitch mezzanine receptacle
The 0.016" (0.40mm) pitch and 0.038" (0.97mm) height above board place it in the dense mezzanine class — the kind used to bridge two boards inside a compact handheld or portable device where every tenth of a millimetre of z-height is budgeted.
The mated stacking height is listed at 0.98mm, which is essentially the same as the 0.97mm board-to-board height of the receptacle alone — the plug counterpart sits flush inside the stack. The 0.40mm pitch forces a fine trace-and-space on the PCB; expect 0.20mm/0.20mm minimum for a single trace between pads, or a via-in-pad approach if routing density demands it. The Solder Retention feature's hold-downs also give the pick-and-place machine a visual alignment target — the part won't shift during reflow if the paste volume is controlled.
Mating half and position-count match
The receptacle mates with the plug, TE 1-2201196-0, which carries the same 10 positions, 0.40mm pitch, and 2-row layout but as a plug with outer shroud contacts. The plug's height is 0.030" (0.75mm) — shorter than the receptacle — so the 0.98mm mated height comes from the receptacle's taller body. No adapter or interposer exists for these — the position count must match between the two boards.
