24-contact USB-C receptacle, mid-mount reverse orientation
The TE Connectivity 1-2295018-2 is a USB-C (USB Type-C) receptacle with 24 contacts, rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps SuperSpeed+). The mid-mount reverse orientation places the connector body flush with the board edge — a common requirement for thin-profile tablet, handheld, or docking station enclosures where the USB port must sit at the PCB edge without protruding. The 10,000 mating cycles (10x the USB-IF baseline) mean this receptacle is built for repeated connect/disconnect duty in field-service tools, test fixtures, or public kiosk ports where a standard 1,500-cycle USB-C would wear out in months.
Current rating per pin group
The current rating is split across three pin groups: 0.25 A on the sideband-use (SBU) contacts, 1.25 A on the configuration channel (CC) lines, and 5 A on the VBUS and GND power pins. That 5 A on the power pair supports USB Power Delivery up to 100 W (20 V at 5 A) when used with a compliant PD controller and cable — but the connector itself is rated 5 A per power contact, so the system-level PD negotiation must stay within that per-contact limit. The 30 V rating covers the VBUS rail for PD extended voltage.
This receptacle mounts into a board cutout, with SMT solder tails and through-hole retention posts. The Pick and Place feature (vacuum pick area on the shell) lets it run through a standard SMT line without a custom nozzle.
