10-Position IDC Receptacle for 2.00 mm Pitch Ribbon Cable
It terminates discrete or ribbon cable (26-30 AWG) with an insulation-displacement contact that pierces the wire insulation in one press operation — no stripping, no crimping. The closed-end housing prevents the cable from pushing through the back of the slot during termination, which is the kind of subtle assembly headache that shows up when you're running a hundred cables and one pushes out. The black housing and closed-end feature are the main visual differentiators from the natural-color open-end version in the same series.
IDC Termination — Tooling and Wire Prep
IDC termination needs a manual or pneumatic press tool that drives the cable into the slot with controlled force. The 26-30 AWG range covers standard ribbon cable (28 AWG is the most common for 2.00 mm pitch IDC assemblies) and discrete wires if you're building a custom harness. The closed-end slot means the wire stops at a fixed depth — no risk of the conductor bottoming out inconsistently. The tin plating on the contact beam wipes through the oxide layer on the wire during insertion, establishing the gas-tight connection. For production runs, a bench press with a full-width die is faster than a hand tool; for prototypes or rework, a hand-operated IDC tool with the correct 2.00 mm die set will do the job.
This receptacle mates with any TE AMPMODU 2.00 mm pitch header that matches the 10-position, single-row layout. The header can be straight or right-angle, through-hole or SMT, depending on your board design. The 2.00 mm pitch is tighter than the classic 0.100" (2.54 mm) AMPMODU, so the header footprint is more compact — useful when board space is tight. The 1-2317222-0 is the black, closed-end variant; the same receptacle in natural color (without closed end) is also available in the AMPMODU 2 mm family.
