0.30 mm pitch, 15 positions — the footprint fit
The 1-2328724-5 is a 15-position FPC connector on a 0.012" (0.30mm) pitch — the tightest pitch in the TE FPC family. At this pitch, the board footprint is dense: each contact sits on 0.30 mm centres, so the overall width is under 5 mm for the contact row. The bottom-contact arrangement means the FPC pads face the board, not the actuator. The flip lock secures the FPC without a secondary latch.
1.00 mm height above board — z-budget constraint
The mated height above the PCB is 0.039" (1.00mm). In a tight enclosure — say a handheld device or a display module — that 1.00 mm sets the floor for the cover or the second board. A taller connector would force a board respin or a thicker housing. Surface-mount right-angle orientation places the FPC entry parallel to the board edge. The connector body sits flush; the FPC exits at 90° to the board plane. This orientation is common for edge-connecting a display or a camera module where the cable runs flat against the chassis.
The gold plating at 3.00µin (0.076µm) is a thin flash; it protects the contact surface for the rated mating cycles but does not add bulk for high-cycle applications. For repeated reconnects, the gold layer will wear faster than a thicker 15 or 30 µin plate. The FPC thickness accepted is 0.20 mm. The contact beams are designed for that nominal thickness; a thicker or thinner FPC will not seat correctly or may damage the beam. The cable end type is tapered — the FPC has a chamfered lead-in to ease insertion under the contacts.
The reel quantity is set by the manufacturer; cut-tape available for prototype or low-volume builds. RoHS3 compliant, housing material is thermoplastic rated UL94 V-0.
