12-Position SMD Terminal Block on 3.81 mm Pitch
The TE 1-2383945-2 is a 12-position, single-level Termi-Blok terminal block from the Buchanan series, built for surface-mount soldering directly onto the PCB. The 0.150" (3.81 mm) pitch gives enough spacing between positions for 16-28 AWG wire entry while keeping the board footprint compact. Rated 12 A per position at 300 V, the current handling is limited more by the PCB trace width and the SMD solder joint than by the rising cage clamp itself — the clamp is rated for the full 12 A, but the pad layout on the board needs to carry that current away.
Screw Torque and Termination
Wire termination uses a screw-driven rising cage clamp — the M2 screw pushes a nickel-plated copper alloy clamp up against the conductor. The specified torque range is 0.5-0.6 Nm (4.4-5.3 Lb-In). That is a narrow window: under-torque leaves the wire loose; over-torque strips the M2 thread in the nylon housing. Use a torque-limiting driver set to 0.5 Nm. The clamp and screw are both copper alloy with nickel plating, and the contact surface on the conductor side is nickel-tin plated — adequate for the 12 A rating and the temperature range, but not intended for frequent re-termination cycles.
SMD Assembly and Packaging
This is a surface-mount terminal block, which is less common than through-hole for screw-clamp types because the mechanical force of screw tightening can stress the solder joint. The SMD footprint must be designed with sufficient copper pad area and thermal relief to handle the 12 A per position — the datasheet pad layout should be followed exactly.
