This plug accepts discrete wire (not ribbon cable), so it suits point-to-point harness builds where each position lands on a separate wire. The right-angle cable exit routes the wire parallel to the mating face, which helps in shallow backplane or panel-mount enclosures where straight-out clearance is tight.
4 Positions vs 3 Positions — Same Pitch, Same Termination
The 1-282004-1 carries 4 positions, against the 3 positions of the 1-282003-1 at the same 0.197" (5.00 mm) pitch and IDC termination. Both are single-row, tin-plated plugs with latch lock and natural housing.
