Wiring a 10-Position PCB Terminal Block at 10 mm Pitch
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-282838-1 is a 10-position, single-level PCB terminal block on a 0.394" (10.00 mm) pitch, designed for horizontal wire entry relative to the board. It uses a rising cage clamp termination — the screw tightens a brass, nickel-plated clamp that pulls the wire against a current bar, creating a gas-tight connection that holds up under thermal cycling and vibration. The green polyamide (PA66) housing is standard for the Buchanan series, and the interlocking side feature lets you snap multiple blocks together without extra brackets for multi-pole assemblies.
Wire Sizing and Torque for the Rising Cage Clamp
This block accepts 16-30 AWG solid or stranded wire. The M3 screw is torqued to 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In).
Board Layout Fit: 10.00 mm Pitch and Through-Hole Mounting
The 10.00 mm pitch gives enough clearance between adjacent terminals for 600 V working voltage without creepage issues — a common spec for industrial control panels and power distribution. The interlocking side feature adds width when ganged, so account for the cumulative pitch in your enclosure layout.
