11-Position 5.08 mm Pitch PCB Terminal Block with Rising Cage Clamp
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-282847-1 is an 11-position, single-level PCB terminal block from the Buchanan series, designed for wire-to-board termination in industrial control, HVAC, and power distribution equipment. It uses a screw-actuated rising cage clamp that pulls the wire against a current bar — a termination style that handles solid and stranded conductors from 12 to 30 AWG without damaging the strands.
35° Wire Entry for Tight Enclosures
The wire terminates at a 35° (145°) angle relative to the board plane, not the usual 90° or 180°. That angled entry lets the harness dress flat against the enclosure wall or along a DIN-rail backplane, saving clearance above the PCB. The green polyamide (PA66) housing carries the M3 screw with a specified torque of 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) — enough to pull the cage up and clamp the conductor without stripping the brass-nickel screw.
Side Interlocking for Multi-Pole Ganging
The interlocking (side) feature lets you snap multiple 1-282847-1 blocks together side-by-side to build a longer terminal strip with a common pitch axis. No separate jumper bars or bus links are needed for the mechanical assembly — the blocks lock together and share the same PCB footprint spacing. This is useful when a design needs more than 11 positions but the PCB layout stays at the same 5.08 mm pitch.
Contact and Clamp Materials
The contact material is brass with tin plating — a standard choice for screw-clamp terminal blocks where the termination cycle count is low (field wiring, not repeated mating). The clamp and screw are also brass with nickel plating, which resists corrosion in industrial cabinet environments. The housing is polyamide (PA66), a nylon 6/6 that holds up to typical operating temperatures inside an electrical enclosure.
