Terminal Block for Power-Level PCB Wiring
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-282858-0 is a 10-position, single-level PCB-mount terminal block on a 0.394" (10.00 mm) pitch. It terminates solid or stranded wire from 12-30 AWG using a screw-driven rising cage clamp — the clamp lifts a brass, nickel-plated pressure plate against the conductor, not the screw tip, so the wire gets a gas-tight connection without nicking strands. The green polyamide (PA66) housing is rated for 24 A per position at 600 V, making this a power-distribution block sized for control cabinets, HVAC panels, and industrial power supplies where a DIN-rail block won't fit the board layout.
Wiring and Torque — What the Clamp Needs
The rising cage clamp accepts 12-30 AWG wire, but the torque spec is the detail that matters for field reliability: 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) on the M3 screw. That's a repeatable, moderate torque — tight enough to pull the cage up into the conductor without stripping the brass-nickel screw in a PA66 thread. Back the screw out fully before inserting the stripped wire; the cage drops clear and the wire slides under it, not beside it.
