12-Position PCB Terminal Block, 5.08 mm Pitch
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-282901-2 is a 12-position, single-level PCB terminal block on a 0.200" (5.08mm) pitch. It terminates wires via a screw-driven rising cage clamp — the screw tightens a clamp that presses the wire against a current bar, giving a gas-tight connection without needing a ferrule. This is a through-hole mount block with a horizontal wire entry orientation — wires enter parallel to the PCB surface.
Ratings and Termination
The M3 screw is torqued to 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) — a controlled torque driver is recommended; under-torquing risks high contact resistance, over-torquing can strip the brass threads. The rising cage clamp accepts solid or stranded wire directly; the clamp material is brass with nickel plating, and the contact area is brass with tin plating — adequate for the current rating and the expected number of re-terminations in a panel environment.
Interlocking and Panel Layout
The housing features side interlocking — multiple blocks can be ganged together on the PCB to form a longer terminal strip without gaps. The positions are stamped on the housing for wire identification. Mid-wire entry level means the wire entry height is centered on the block profile, which keeps wiring consistent across a row of ganged blocks. For a 12-circuit BOM line, this single block covers the full count; no need to bridge multiple smaller blocks.
