The rising cage clamp lifts to accept stripped wire, then clamps down as the M3 screw is torqued to 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In). It handles 16-30 AWG — solid or stranded — without damaging the conductor. The brass clamp and screw are nickel-plated, the contact is tin-plated brass, so the current path stays corrosion-resistant in a cabinet environment. This is a field-termination block, not a crimp-and-insert connector; you land the wire directly under the screw.
Interlocking and Ganging
The side interlocking feature lets you snap multiple 1-284093-2 blocks together side-by-side to build a wider terminal strip — no separate jumper or bridging piece needed for the mechanical assembly. The electrical connection between ganged blocks still requires a wire jumper or bus bar across the screw clamps; the interlock is mechanical only, for alignment and vibration resistance on the PCB.
Current and Voltage Ratings — What They Mean
Rated 13.5 A per position at 300 V. That 13.5 A is the continuous current through the rising cage clamp and tin-plated brass contact — sized for power distribution on a control board, not signal-level duty. Derate above the ambient temperature the block sees inside the enclosure; the PA66 housing limits the continuous temperature rise.
