Board-Mount Terminal Block for Power Distribution
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-284392-0 is a 10-position, single-level PCB terminal block with a 0.150" (3.81 mm) pitch, designed for side-entry horizontal wire termination relative to the board. It uses a rising cage clamp mechanism — an M3 screw drives a clamp plate that pulls the wire against a brass, tin-plated current bar, giving a gas-tight connection on solid or stranded wire from 14 to 30 AWG.
Screw-Clamp Termination and Torque
The rising cage clamp uses a brass M3 screw with nickel plating, torqued to 0.25 Nm (2.2 Lb-In). That torque spec is tighter than many miniature blocks — it prevents the screw from backing off under thermal cycling on 14 AWG power wires. The clamp plate rises vertically, so the wire end is captured between the plate and the bus bar rather than crushed under the screw head. The screw and clamp material are both brass with nickel plating, which resists corrosion in the industrial cabinet environment.
