Inline Adapter, Not a Standard Plug — What the 1-292215-5 Actually Is
The TE 1-292215-5 is the 15-position member of the Mini CT series, configured as a plug-to-plug adapter — both ends terminate in male pins. This is not a wire-to-board header or a crimp housing; it is an inline interconnect designed to bridge two female Mini CT receptacles, allowing a harness to pass through a panel or extend a circuit path without splicing. The 0.059" (1.50mm) pitch keeps the adapter compact, and the single-row layout fits into narrow cutouts.
Panel Mount, Snap-In — Installation Method Decides the Fit
Mounting type is panel mount, snap-in. That means the adapter locks into a rectangular panel cutout using integral plastic latches — no screws, no brackets, no soldering. The snap-in feature holds the adapter stationary while the mating receptacles are plugged in from either side. For a harness builder, this eliminates the need for a separate mounting clip or strain relief bracket, but it does require the correct panel thickness and cutout dimensions from the TE product drawing.
It will not mate directly with another plug, nor with a standard header. The 15-position count is fixed — the adapter is a single molded piece, not a stackable block. No official cross-reference or equivalent exists in the evidence; the Mini CT series is TE-proprietary in its keying and terminal geometry.
