15-Position D-Sub Plug with Board Locks and Grounding Indents
It carries 6A per contact on gold-plated phosphor bronze pins, arranged in two rows within a DA-size shell. The black glass-filled polyester housing meets UL94 V-0, and the steel shell is tin-plated for EMI shielding. The 4-40 threaded insert accepts standard D-Sub hardware for panel mounting.
The 6A per-contact rating is the current limit before the temperature rise exceeds the UL-rated housing material. The board locks are not optional retention — they are the primary mechanical anchor. Without them, the 15-position plug relies entirely on solder fillet shear strength, which fails under cable tug or vibration. The grounding indents are equally functional: they scrape through oxide on the mating shell to keep the shield path low-inductance, which matters for EMC compliance in industrial cabinets.
Positioning in the AMPLIMITE HDP-20 Family
Within the AMPLIMITE HDP-20 series, this 15-position plug (DA shell size) sits between the 9-position DE and 25-position DB variants. The 6A rating is consistent across the series — the current limit is set by the contact design, not the shell size.
Active lifecycle — TE Connectivity continues to manufacture the 1-338310-2. RoHS compliant.
