It terminates discrete 26-28 AWG wire via an IDC (insulation displacement) slot — no separate crimp terminal required, the wire is punched through the insulation and contacts the tin-plated socket directly. The 0.059" (1.50mm) pitch is the tightest in the Mini CT family, which means the mating header footprint is compact: useful when board real estate is tight, but the narrow pitch also limits the current per circuit compared to the wider 5.00mm-pitch sibling (1-1703095-1). The gray closed-end housing prevents the wire from pushing through the back of the connector during termination — a simple but welcome detail when you are building a harness on a bench.
IDC termination saves the cost of a separate crimp terminal and the tooling to install it, but it is picky about wire gauge. The 26-28 AWG window is narrow — do not try 24 AWG or 30 AWG; the IDC slot will not cut the insulation cleanly or grip the conductor. Tin contacts are standard for IDC connectors in this class: they carry the rated current fine for a permanent harness, but if the connection will be disconnected and reconnected repeatedly, the tin surface frets and builds oxide — so plan for single-mate duty or specify a gold-plated variant if the series offers one.
Mating Header and BOM Fit
If your BOM calls for a different position count, the Mini CT family includes 4- through 20-position versions at the same pitch, so swapping to a 12- or 16-position member keeps the same footprint pitch and termination method.
