The 1-480702-9: The black nylon (polyamide) housing uses a latch lock fastening system to keep the mated pair secure under vibration — the latch clicks home and stays there until you deliberately release it. Contacts are ordered separately and crimped into the housing, so the BOM needs the matching male or female crimp terminals as a separate line item.
What the Latch Lock and Single-Row Layout Mean on the Bench
The latch lock is the primary retention — it prevents the plug from backing out of the mating receptacle when the harness is routed through a cabinet or along a moving assembly. Single-row, 4-position means the wire exit is compact; you can gang several of these side-by-side on a panel without crowding the terminals.
Mating Half and Contact Selection
This plug mates with the corresponding Universal MATE-N-LOK receptacle housing of the same 4-position, single-row configuration. Because the housing accepts both male and female contacts, the same shell can serve as either the plug or receptacle side depending on which terminal you load — useful for keeping a single housing SKU on the shelf. The crimp termination means you need the TE-certified hand tool or applicator for the terminal series; if your shop already runs Universal MATE-N-LOK terminals, the tool changeover is zero.
