Pin Diameter Range and Contact Design
The 1-5050871-9: This Series 5 pin socket accepts pin diameters from 0.056" to 0.065" (1.42 mm to 1.65 mm) — that's the window for the mating pin you're dropping into the board. The beryllium copper contact gives it spring memory; it won't take a set after a few insertions the way phosphor bronze can.
Mounting and Termination Fit
Solder termination and a no-tail design — the socket sits flush to the board surface after soldering, which keeps the overall stack height tight. The open-bottom feature lets the pin pass through the socket body, so the mating pin can bottom out on the board or a second socket below. Mounting hole diameter is spec'd at 0.101" to 0.103" (2.57 mm to 2.62 mm) — drill or route the PCB hole inside that range, and the socket flange (0.118" / 3.00 mm diameter,) seats against the board surface with the solder fillet taking the shear load from cable strain.
Thermal Range and Sourcing Status
Rated from -65°C to 126°C — wide enough for under-hood automotive, outdoor telecom cabinets, and industrial enclosures that see thermal cycling. The housing material holds up across that band without cracking or losing contact force.
