Board-to-Board Mezzanine Stacking with the TE Free Height FH Plug
The 0.230" (5.85mm) height above board, combined with the mated stacking heights of 6mm, 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm, means one PCB footprint can serve multiple board spacing requirements by swapping the mating receptacle height.
Stack Height Selection and Board Layout
The 0.80mm pitch is the primary footprint constraint — it dictates the routing channel width between pads and the via escape pattern on inner layers. The 100 positions in two rows means 50 contacts per row, which requires a dense fan-out strategy on the bottom board. The four supported mated stacking heights (6mm, 10mm, 14mm, 18mm) are set by the mating receptacle height, not the plug itself, so the plug's SMT footprint stays constant across all stack height options.
