Socket Contact for Multimate III+ Harnesses
It accepts 24-26 AWG wire and terminates via crimp, making it a field-replaceable component in harness assemblies where the contact is loaded into a housing after crimping. The tin plating is well-suited for environments with limited mating cycles — typically under 50 cycles — and where the operating temperature stays within the tin's rated range. Supplied in bulk packaging, this socket is intended for use with the matching Multimate III+ pin contacts and the series' housings, which include the CPC (Circular Plastic Connector) and other TE connector families that accept the Multimate III+ contact system.
Crimping and Wire Preparation
For 24-26 AWG wire, the recommended crimp tooling includes TE's manual or pneumatic crimpers with the appropriate die set for stamped Multimate III+ contacts. The crimp must capture both the wire conductor and the insulation support barrel to meet the contact's pull-out force specification. A properly set crimp height ensures the contact seats fully into the housing cavity and locks with the retention lance.
