The 14-18 AWG range covers common power and signal wiring in industrial and automotive harnesses. The stamped construction keeps the contact cost-effective for production runs, while the Copper Nickel Alloy provides good spring retention and corrosion resistance under the tin plating. For crimping, a tool matched to the Multimate III+ contact family and the 14-18 AWG wire size is required — the terminal barrel is designed for a specific crimp height and pull-off force.
This socket mates with Multimate III+ pin contacts (male). The contact is inserted into a compatible Multimate III+ housing — typically a plug or receptacle housing that accepts the stamped contact family. The tin finish on both mating surfaces is adequate for applications with limited disconnect cycles; for frequent field servicing, a gold-plated variant would offer longer cycle life.
