9-Position D-Sub Receptacle with IDC Termination
The TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE HDE-20 1-745491-8 is a 9-position D-sub receptacle with female sockets, designed for free-hanging (in-line) termination of discrete wires using an IDC (Insulation Displacement Contact) method. This connector accepts 22-26 AWG wire, eliminating the need for separate crimp contacts — the wire is pressed directly into the slot, which cuts through the insulation and grips the conductor. The gold-plated phosphor bronze contacts carry a flash coating of 1.00 µ" gold, suited for signal-level duty where occasional mate/unmate is expected. The shell size 1 (DE, E) with an unthreaded housing flange means the mating plug provides the jack-screw hardware for panel retention.
The IDC termination accepts 22-26 AWG discrete wire — no separate crimp terminals to load into the housing. This saves a trip back to the bench for a crimp tool, but the trade-off is that the connection is permanent: you cannot remove and re-terminate a wire without cutting it off. The gold flash on the contact mating surface is thin (1.00 µ"), so repeated re-termination on the same contact is not recommended — the gold wears through after a few cycles.
