The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-796683-6 is a 16-position PCB-mount terminal block on 5.00 mm pitch, designed for wire-to-board power distribution. It uses a screw-actuated rising cage clamp — turning the M3 screw pulls the clamp up against the conductor, gripping stranded or solid wire from 12 AWG down to 30 AWG without a ferrule. The green polyamide 6/6 housing carries a single level of positions, with side interlocking features that let you gang multiple blocks side-by-side while maintaining the 5.00 mm pitch across the assembly.
Termination and wire preparation
Each position terminates via a rising cage clamp — the screw (M3 thread) pushes a brass, nickel-plated clamp upward against the conductor. The clamp material is brass with nickel plating.
Board mounting and orientation
This orientation is useful when the board sits vertically in an enclosure or when the wiring harness approaches from the side of the panel rather than from above. Side interlocking tabs on the housing let you snap multiple blocks together before soldering, keeping the row of positions continuous across the assembly without gaps.
The 17.5 A per-position rating is measured at the terminal block level, not derated for adjacent positions in a multi-circuit block.
