11-Position, 5.00 mm Pitch, 35° PCB Terminal Block
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 1-796690-1 is an 11-position, single-level PCB terminal block on a 0.197" (5.00 mm) pitch. It terminates wires via a screw-actuated rising cage clamp — the M3 screw pushes a tin-plated brass clamp down onto the conductor, giving a gas-tight connection across 12-30 AWG wire. The housing is green polyamide (PA66), the standard Buchanan colour that tells a panel builder what series they're working with without reading the part number. Rated 17.5 A per position at 300 V, this block is sized for power distribution inside industrial control panels, HVAC equipment, and motor starter enclosures — not signal-level wiring. The mating orientation is 35° (145°) angle with the board, which means wires enter at a shallow angle rather than straight vertical. This is the feature that sells the part in shallow enclosures or where the board sits close to a cover — a straight vertical block would hit the lid.
Screw Torque and Termination
The screw torque spec is 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In). That's a firm value — over-torque strips the brass threads in the polyamide housing, under-torque leaves a high-resistance joint that heats under load. A torque screwdriver set to 0.79 Nm is the right tool for field termination. The rising cage clamp pulls the wire up against the current bar, so stripped wire length and ferrule use follow standard practice for this clamp style.
Interlocking Side Feature
The interlocking (side) feature lets multiple blocks key together side-by-side on the same PCB to build a multi-position assembly without gaps.
